This will be our last update letter “from the field.” In just a few days we will be leaving Costa Rica to return to our sending church, the Kansas City Baptist Temple. Our first “official” Sunday back at KCBT will be December 19th. Hopefully we'll be able to see many of you then!
Here's what's going on these days... do please pray for us!
We would like to thank each and every one of those who have supported us over the last 15 years. We left KCBT in August of 1995 and are returning after fulfilling the mission given us to do. All this was made possible because so many of you (churches and individuals) faithfully gave to us each and every month. Thank you!
As we transition back to life and ministry in the States, we would like to humbly ask you to please continue your support until we get on our feet (it shouldn't be more than a few months). Even though KCBT is cutting our support at the end of this month, they have graciously decided to give us a one-time offering that will help to cover a portion of the cost of our plane tickets home. But we still need help as we get try to get settled into our new life in the United States.
Because of a current U.S. policy on shipments of personal effects into the States, we are not able to ship any of our household goods back to Kansas City. That means we have to start from scratch. We not only need a house, a car, a job... but we also need the small things, too, like a coffee maker and forks. Everything.
Therefore, we are asking our supporters to please continue helping us with their donations until we are able to take care of ourselves. Nothing has changed as far as the logistics of your giving. All our support is still being taken care of by KCBT, so you can simply continue to give your support to us through our church as always. If you want to send a one-time donation, that would be great, too. Just make the check out to the Kansas City Baptist Temple and designate it (on the “memo” line or with a enclosed letter) for “Greg and Sue Kedrovsky.” KCBT will make sure we get it. As we transition back to the United States, one of our greatest concerns is our family (especially our kids). I know many of you pray for us regularly, so here's what's going with our family needs.
We're looking for a house to rent in Lee's Summit (preferably in the Pleasant Lea school district). We'd really like to get into a short-term (six-month) lease if we could because we'd like to buy as soon as possible—as soon as we know where I'm going to be working.
We're also going to need the basic things required by life in the States: a car, school clothes (our kids have uniforms here), kitchen items, beds, etc.
And I need a job. Obviously (as I've stated before), I would love to stay in vocational ministry as a pastor-teacher, but God has yet to open that door. I did have an opportunity with a ministry in Los Angeles, CA (as “Director of Spanish Language Outreach”), but I am convinced at this time that we need to be back in Kansas City, so I declined. I have been submitting applications and résumés wherever I can, and I have two very interesting interviews coming up next week, one on December 9th and the other on the 11th. Please pray for God to either open a door or close it! If neither of those jobs opens up, then I will simply continue applying for jobs as I can once I'm up there.
We Christians know that God has created each and every one of us for certain works that He desires for us to do (Eph 2.8-10). Each member of the Body of Christ is divinely designed for his particular function in the Body (Eph 4.16; 1Cor 12), and that function doesn't change (a foot is always a foot, a hand a hand, etc.). God has called me to preach and teach the Word of God, and to do the work of an evangelist; that's what I do (Eph 4.11-12; 2Tim 4.1-5). So, we will continue to pray and seek God's plan for us in ministry as we return home. If He would desire to use me again in the ministry of a pastor-teacher, I would count it a privilege and an honor (and, frankly, that's my hearts desire!).
In the meantime, I'm praying daily and constantly that God would grant me boldness to preach the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to the lost out on the streets of Kansas City. If you think of us and pray for our needs, please ask God to graciously grant me boldness to preach the Gospel as I ought.
Thank you all very much and I hope to see you very soon!
